Montes Verdes Stove Project
The Problem
The wood-burning stoves commonly used in rural Nicaragua extract a high price both on the environment and on the family’s health. The majority of the stoves do not have a ventilation system and the smoke accumulates within the house, causing eye and respiratory infections.
The Solution
We are funding the construction of new fuel-efficient stoves for local families that consume 60% less firewood and are designed with proper ventilation.
