Kitagyenda Water Tank

The Problem

Keeping students in school and providing them with good nutrition are two issues facing students in Uganda. The Kitagyenda School has no regular water source for the 500 students at the school.

The Solution

We provided the funding to install a rainwater catchment tank with filters to be used for both clean drinking water and for the preparation of the morning porridge for breakfast.

Project Updates

May 2012

Joe spoke to three second grade classes at The Bradford School who will be helping raise funds for a water tank project in Uganda. The Bradford School students have stepped up to help fund a third water tank – this one at the Kitagyenda Primary School. The students have been learning about the importance of water in our world including the water cycle, water pollution and water scarcity. To culminate their lessons, they will be partaking in a Water-Thon to help raise money for the water tank project. The students will be walking short laps while carrying a one gallon jug of water and get sponsors to support them for every lap they walk.

Pictured is the Kitagyenda School in Uganda where a new water tank will soon be installed thanks to the fundraising efforts of the second graders at The Bradford School in New Jersey. School will be starting soon and so will the setup for the new tank! We’re looking forward to seeing how things progress.

October 2012

The new tank has been installed at the Kitagyenda School in Uganda. This tank was funded by the second graders at the Bradford School from their WaterThon event last year. The Project Solution team had a wonderful experience working with the Mpambara-Cox Foundation who are on the ground doing incredible work in Uganda.
