Talise Water Tank Project

The Problem

Like many schools located on the island of North Sulawesi, The Talise School had no access to safe drinking water at their school. This common problem stems from the fact that local ground water has very high concentrations of salt.

The Solution

This project funded the construction of a series of cistern tank at the local elementary school to serve students, staff, and the surrounding community. The finished tanks hold up to 9000 liters of water.

Project Updates

July 2018

The local volunteers working with Learn to Live work at building out the structure that will house the water tanks.

One of the new water tanks being installed. The finished project will have multiple tanks holding up to 9000 liters.

August 2018

The local Learn to Live staff and volunteers joined with the school staff and students to celebrate the completed water tanks.

“The water system is very helpful for the students and community. At break, the students have water here, can take water from here, and do not have to go home. Before, students had to go home to get water to drink. They had to take one break to go home to drink water every day. It was disruptive for the school lesson.”
