Ibal-Acha Water

The Problem

The Ibal-Acha School, located in the Belo region of Cameroon, serves nearly 300 students, but it had no local water source. Students and staff either had to bring water to school with them or go without water all day.

The Solution

Working with RUDEC (Rural Development Center), we provided the necessary funding to run pipes from a nearby water source to create a new stanchion at the school so students and staff can have access to water.

The Bradford School

Project Updates

May 2014

The second graders of the Bradford School in New Jersey held their third Waterthon event in May 2014. This year the money raised will be going to the Ibal-Acha School in Cameroon where there is currently no water source available for the students. A newly constructed water tap will be built and once completed, will provide clean water for hand washing and drinking. Thanks again to Marcie Chanin who created and organized the event, the parents who volunteered for the day, the staff of the Bradford School for their continued support and the kids who did all the walking and fundraising!

August 2014

Several members of the local community joined together to provide the manpower toward a new water tap being installed at the Ibal-Acha School in Cameroon. Trenches were dug and pipes were installed so that all the students at the school will be able to have clean water available to them come the new school year.

Prior to this effort, the school had no onsite water source at all. The new water tap will be a huge improvement for the students and staff. The Project Solution is once again working with Joshua Chiamba and RUDEC to coordinate all the work with the community.

The new water tap at the Ibal-Acha School in Cameroon is finishing up as the community volunteers and local labor prepare to get the water flowing. As school gets underway, all the students and staff will now have a source of clean water available to them. Our thanks go out to all those who gave their time to help support the school and to RUDEC for managing the project.

September 2014

The new tap is up and running at the Ibal-Acha School in Cameroon just in time for the start of the new school year. One of the students at the school said, “We had a surprise in our school when we came back from holidays. We shall have water to clean our classes, drink and it will stop students from going out of school to fetch water.”
